Education – Grant Information

The City of Oxford Charity is committed to supporting learning opportunities for children and young people across the city. Our education grants help bridge the gap for disadvantaged students—whether it’s financially assisting schools to offer educational visits and activities or providing families in need with resources, such as uniforms and equipment. By reducing financial barriers, we aim to make education more accessible and enriching for all.

Trustees meet to consider applications five times per year. The dates for these meetings can be found opposite.

• Applications are considered from schools within the City of Oxford
• Typically, grants will provide 35% towards the costs of educational visits or activities for primary schools and up to 20% for secondary schools for those children from low-income families
• It is the school’s responsibility to ensure the remaining 65% or 80% of the visit or activity cost can be met either via the family directly, or from another charitable source
• Please be aware that we do not award grants retrospectively

• Applications will be considered from individual young people (under the age of 25) or the families, guardians or teachers of younger children
• Education grants are not normally awarded beyond first-degree level or to those living in Oxford solely as students
• Grant applications can support specific educational resources such as books/materials for college students or uniform assistance for younger children
• Please note all applications must be accompanied by a signed letter from a supporting organisation or from the school or college

• Students may also be eligible to apply for funds to assist with the one-off purchase of a bus pass for travel to/from their place of education
